Our tourism potential is formidable even in comparison to other Caribbean countries. Our strengths are obvious. Our geographical position, our climate, our beaches, our mountains, our valleys, our natural sites, our history, our culture, our painting, our art, our music, our folklore… Forward encourages a tourism policy which will once again make us country a “dream and leisure” destination popular with our diaspora and tourists from around the world.
An effective tourism policy must make this sector an essential pillar of an ambitious national project. We will have to be astute in developing strategies for the Far North capable of leveraging unique historical, cultural and ecological assets. Incentive measures must be taken to encourage investments in promising and complementary sectors to Tourism, that is to say agriculture, crafts and real estate. Certain strategic areas with high potential for tourism development must benefit from even greater incentive advantages to avoid the concentration of hotels in the West and Center department. There are also a limited number of hotels in Grand’Anse, although this department is destined to become a real tourist gem.
